Ok, so the last song of the “european-theme” series is this small italian-voice-wonder. Yukari Ito, one of the most famous pop-ikons of the late sixties and seventies in japan, performed at the San-Remo Festival in 1965.
San Remo is the oldest Music-Festival in Europe and used to be the most important in the sixties, far more important than the other euro-contests we know today. At that time it was common to invite foreign stars to performe the songs, and there has been some world-hits born at san remo. Yukari was seventeen years old at that time (what a voice!) and performed a song by Kramer & Pallavicini with the title ”L’amore ha i tuoi occhi”. She became one of the 12 finalists, but failed in the end. And competition was hard: Among the twelve were Dusty Springfield, Connie Francis, Petula Clark and - Udo Jürgens!
